Sical is one of Portugal's most iconic coffee brands, with a history dating back to 1947. Founded by Vicente de Paiva in Porto, the brand quickly became synonymous with the 'Portuguese coffee experience,' known for its distinct roasting techniques and high-quality blends sourced primarily from former Portuguese colonies like Angola and Brazil.
Over the decades, Sical evolved from a local favorite to a national leader in both the retail and hospitality sectors. In 1987, the brand was acquired by the Swiss multinational Nestlé. Under Nestlé's ownership, Sical has expanded its product range to include modern delivery formats like Nescafé Dolce Gusto and Delta-compatible capsules while maintaining its traditional roasting profiles and headquarters in Portugal. Today, it remains a cornerstone of Nestlé's coffee portfolio in the Iberian Peninsula.
