Post-it Notes

Post-it Notes were born out of a collaborative accident at 3M in the late 1960s. Scientist Spencer Silver created a 'low-tack' adhesive that could be reused, and fellow scientist Art Fry later envisioned its use as a repositionable bookmark. After evolving into the sticky notes we know today, they were officially launched across the United States in 1980.

Today, the brand is synonymous with organizational productivity and is exclusively owned by 3M. While 3M has manufacturing facilities worldwide, the vast majority of official Post-it Notes are manufactured at a massive facility in Cynthiana, Kentucky, which serves as the primary global hub for the product. The brand's iconic 'Canary Yellow' color was also a coincidence, as the lab next door to the inventors had only yellow scrap paper available during initial testing.
