The brand was established in 1878 by Anders and Matilda Påhlsson in Malmö, Sweden. Today, the product is primarily manufactured in Malmö and Gothenburg using grains from the company's own mill, Farina. Pågen remains a family-owned enterprise, with the fourth generation of the Påhlsson family overseeing the business. The brand has expanded significantly from its origins as a small local bakery to becoming a leading exporter of Swedish baked goods across Europe, particularly popular for its 'Gifflar' range.
