The Lenovo ThinkBook is a line of business-oriented laptops designed and marketed by Lenovo. While the ThinkBook brand itself was launched by Lenovo in 2019 to target small and medium-sized businesses, it builds on the heritage of the legendary ThinkPad line, which was originally developed by IBM in Japan and the United States in the early 1990s.
Lenovo acquired IBM's Personal Computing Division in 2005, transitioning the brand's ownership to China. Today, ThinkBook laptops are manufactured through a global network of facilities. While a significant portion of production occurs in China (specifically in mega-plants in Hefei and Wuhan), Lenovo also operates assembly lines in Brazil, Mexico, India, and Germany to serve regional markets. Premium configurations are sometimes assembled in Japan to maintain high quality standards.
As of 2026, Lenovo Group Limited remains the ultimate owner. It is a multinational technology giant headquartered in Beijing, China, with operational headquarters in Morrisville, North Carolina. The company is publicly traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, though it maintains strong historical ties to the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
