Graasten Mayonnaise Den Ægte is a staple of Danish food culture, known for its creamy consistency and mild, well-balanced flavor profile. The brand "Graasten" was founded in 1947 by Johannes Rasmussen in the town of Gråsten, Southern Jutland, Denmark. Initially a small local operation, it grew into a national favorite, particularly famous for its mayonnaise, remoulade, and various sandwich spreads.

Today, the production remains rooted in Denmark, specifically at the Stryhns Gruppen factory in Gråsten. This facility is a core part of the regional industry and continues to produce the traditional recipe using rapeseed oil and egg yolks. The brand's journey through corporate history saw it transition from a family-owned business to part of a larger conglomerate. In 2003, it was acquired by the Norwegian food group Agra, and later in 2008, it became part of the Stryhns Gruppen A/S when Agra also acquired the Stryhn's brand. As of 2026, it remains a flagship brand under the ownership of Agra, a family-owned Norwegian food group with a significant presence across Scandinavia.
