Vita Cola is a iconic German cola brand that originated in 1957 in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). It was specifically developed as a domestic alternative to Western beverages like Coca-Cola, featuring a unique flavor profile characterized by a strong citrus note and fruit extracts. While many East German brands disappeared after reunification, Vita Cola experienced a major resurgence due to 'Ostalgie' (East German nostalgia) and remains the market leader in the state of Thuringia today.

Since 2005, the brand has been part of the Hassia Group. Production is primarily centered at the Thüringer Waldquell facility in Schmalkalden, though it is also bottled at other Hassia Group locations across Germany to meet regional demand. The formula remains faithful to the original 1950s recipe, emphasizing a less sweet, lemon-forward taste that distinguishes it from global competitors.
