Sanella margarine

Sanella is a well-known German brand of margarine specifically marketed for baking, famously associated with the slogan 'Backen ist Liebe' (Baking is Love).

Originally launched in 1904 by the Sana-Gesellschaft based in Cleves, Germany, the brand became a staple in German households for cakes and pastries. For decades, it was part of the Unilever portfolio. In 2018, Unilever sold its spreads division, including Sanella, to the private equity firm KKR, which established the company Upfield. Upfield now oversees the production and distribution of Sanella, maintaining its strong presence in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) while utilizing manufacturing facilities primarily located in Germany to serve the local market.
