Clipper Tea

Clipper Teas is a prominent British tea brand known for its pioneering role in the ethical and organic beverage market. Founded in 1984 by Mike and Lorraine Brehme in their Dorset kitchen, the brand began with just two chests of Assam tea and a commitment to natural, additive-free products. In 1994, it made history as the UK's first tea company to receive the Fairtrade Mark, and it continues to be one of the world's largest buyers of Fairtrade tea today.

While the raw tea leaves are sourced from ethically managed estates in countries like India, Kenya, and Sri Lanka, the final blending and production take place in the company's dedicated factory in Beaminster, Dorset. The brand underwent a significant transformation in 2012 when it was acquired by the Dutch health food company Royal Wessanen. As of 2026, the brand is part of Ecotone, a major European leader in organic and plant-based foods. In certain European markets like Germany and Spain, the product is sold under the name 'Cupper' due to trademark registrations, but it maintains the same ethical standards and distinctive branding.
