The brand takes its name from the Sant'Anna spring located in the Maritime Alps of Piedmont, at an altitude of approximately 1,660 meters. Established in the mid-1990s by the industrialist Alberto Bertone, the brand quickly rose to market leadership in Italy. The production facility in Vinadio is legendary for its scale and efficiency, often cited as one of the most technologically advanced bottling plants globally. Ownership has remained consistent and private. The brand is owned by Fonti di Vinadio S.p.A., a company that remains under the control of the Bertone family. This independence has allowed the brand to focus on sustainability initiatives, such as the introduction of 'Bio Bottle', an early example of 100% compostable plastic containers in the beverage industry.
