Woolrich is one of the oldest outdoor clothing brands in the United States, founded in 1830 by John Rich and Daniel McCormick in Pennsylvania. Originally established to manufacture wool for the wives of hunters, loggers, and trappers, it became iconic for its Buffalo Check shirts and Antarctic parkas.

While the brand has deep American roots, its modern identity is heavily influenced by European design and ownership. In 2018, the investment firm L-GAM acquired a majority stake in Woolrich International (a merger between the original US company and its European licensee, WP Lavori in Corso). Today, the brand's headquarters and strategic management are primarily based in Italy, though it maintains its heritage connection to its namesake town in Pennsylvania. Manufacturing is distributed globally across various countries, focusing on premium materials and high-performance craftsmanship.
