Operil is a well-known nasal decongestant brand, primarily used to treat symptoms of rhinitis and sinusitis. It was originally developed in Slovenia by the pharmaceutical company Lek, which has a long-standing history as one of the leading drug manufacturers in the Adriatic region.
The product is manufactured in Slovenia at Lek's specialized facilities. In terms of ownership, the brand underwent a significant transition when Lek became part of the Sandoz Group, which was a subsidiary of the Swiss multinational Novartis. However, following a strategic spin-off, Sandoz became an independent, publicly traded global leader in generic and biosimilar medicines.
Today, Operil continues to be produced and distributed under the Sandoz umbrella. The brand remains a staple in pharmacies across Central and Southeastern Europe, maintaining its reputation for efficacy and quality in the pharmaceutical over-the-counter (OTC) market.
