Fisherman's Friend is a globally recognized brand of strong menthol lozenges, which first originated in Fleetwood, Lancashire, England, in 1865. Pharmacist James Lofthouse originally developed the liquid remedy for deep-sea fishermen to help with respiratory issues during harsh voyages in the North Atlantic; it was later transformed into the iconic solid lozenges sold today.

The brand remains a family-owned business, operated by Lofthouse of Fleetwood Ltd. Unlike many global confectionery brands, Fisherman's Friend has resisted acquisition by major multinational corporations, maintaining its heritage and production at its single large facility in Fleetwood. From this UK base, the product is exported to over 100 countries worldwide, with the green-striped packaging denoting the classic Mint flavour variant.
