The brand is a staple of German beverage culture and is primarily manufactured in Germany through a system of regional bottling partners. The ownership of the brand has changed hands over the decades; it was once owned by the Dortmunder Actien-Brauerei before being acquired by the Hövelmann family. Today, it remains family-owned, maintaining its legacy as a strong independent competitor in the international soft drink market.
