Buff multifunctional headwear

Buff is a globally recognized brand that pioneered the multifunctional headwear category. Founded in 1991 by Joan Rojas, a Spanish motorcyclist from Catalonia, the brand was born out of a practical need for better protection against the wind and sun while riding. Rojas utilized his family's expertise in tubular knitting to create a seamless microfiber tube that could be worn in numerous ways. The name 'Buff' is a shortened version of 'bufanda', the Spanish word for scarf.

Today, Buff remains a family-owned company headquartered in Igualada, near Barcelona, Spain. A defining characteristic of the brand is its commitment to local production; approximately 90% of all Buff products are manufactured in-house at their own factory in Spain. While some accessories or components may be sourced or produced in other locations, the brand has been actively working to bring the remaining 10% of production back to their Spanish facility. In 2022, the company achieved B Corp certification, reflecting its focus on environmental sustainability and social responsibility, including the use of recycled materials like plastic bottles in its signature fabrics.
