Milka is one of the world's most recognizable chocolate brands, famous for its lilac packaging and the 'Lila Cow' mascot. The brand's origin dates back to 1901 in Switzerland, founded by Philippe Suchard as a combination of 'Milch' (milk) and 'Kakao' (cocoa). It is particularly known for using Alpine milk, contributing to its smooth and creamy texture.

While the brand has Swiss roots, the primary production facility is located in Lörrach, Germany, which produces the majority of Milka chocolate sold globally. However, manufacturing also takes place in other countries including Austria, Poland, and Brazil to satisfy regional demand. Ownership has shifted through several corporate mergers, starting with the merger of Suchard and Tobler to form Interfood, which was later acquired by Kraft Foods. Today, Milka is a core brand of Mondelez International, a multinational confectionery giant headquartered in the United States.
