Karhu is a premier Finnish beer brand with a storied history dating back to 1929. The name, which means "bear" in Finnish, is reflected in its iconic gold bear-head logo visible on the packaging. Originally brewed in Pori by the Porin Olut brewery, the brand has grown to become one of the most popular lager beers in Finland.

Today, the brand is owned and brewed by Sinebrychoff, the oldest brewery in the Nordic countries. The manufacturing process takes place primarily in Kerava, Finland. Sinebrychoff transitioned from an independent family company to a major international player and is now a key part of the global brewing landscape through its parent company.

Ownership of the Karhu brand currently lies with the Carlsberg Group, a Danish multinational brewery giant that acquired a majority stake in Sinebrychoff in 1997 and took full ownership by 1999. This ownership structure places Karhu within a vast portfolio of international beer brands, benefitng from global distribution and marketing while maintaining its distinct Finnish heritage and local production roots.
