In Japan, it is brewed by Kirin Brewery Company. In the United States, production traditionally took place under contract with Anheuser-Busch, but as of 2025, it has transitioned to facilities owned by New Belgium Brewing (a subsidiary of the Kirin-owned Lion group) in Colorado and North Carolina. In Europe, the beer is often brewed under license by partners like Weihenstephan in Germany to maintain strict quality standards, while it is also produced in locations like Thailand and Australia for their respective regions.

The brand is owned by Kirin Holdings Company, Limited, a major Japanese conglomerate with historical ties to the Mitsubishi Group. Over the years, Kirin has evolved from a traditional brewery into a global health-science and beverage giant, acquiring several international craft and mainstream brands to diversify its portfolio.
