Initially marketed as 'Glucozade' to provide energy for the sick, it was acquired by the Beecham Group in 1938 and eventually became a staple of the GlaxoSmithKline portfolio. Today, the brand is owned by the Japanese multinational beverage company Suntory Holdings. This ownership change occurred in 2013 when Suntory Beverage & Food Ltd purchased the Lucozade and Ribena brands from GlaxoSmithKline to expand its global reach. The product shown, Lucozade Energy Orange, continues to be produced primarily in the United Kingdom, specifically at the historic Lucozade Ribena Suntory factory in Coleford, Gloucestershire, which handles the bottling and distribution for the UK and European markets.
