Dreft detergent

Dreft is a prominent brand in the household cleaning industry, recognized primarily as the first synthetic household detergent introduced by Procter & Gamble (P&G) in 1933. While it was originally developed to tackle hard water issues better than traditional soap, it has evolved into a specialized brand known for its gentleness. In the North American market, Dreft is synonymous with hypoallergenic baby laundry detergents, often recommended by pediatricians for sensitive newborn skin.

In Europe, particularly in the Netherlands and Belgium, the Dreft name is also applied to dishwashing liquids, serving as the local branding for what is known as 'Fairy' in the UK or 'Dawn' in the USA. Because Dreft is a global brand under the Procter & Gamble umbrella, it is manufactured in various facilities worldwide, including major plants in the United States and Europe, to serve its diverse regional markets. Ownership remains firmly with Procter & Gamble, a multinational consumer goods giant headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio.
