Borsec Mineral Water

Borsec is one of the most prestigious mineral water brands in Romania, with a history dating back over 200 years. Sourced from the Borsec resort in the Eastern Carpathian Mountains (Harghita County), the water's therapeutic properties were recognized as early as the 1600s. It gained international fame in the 19th century when Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria dubbed it the "Queen of Mineral Waters."

Industrial bottling first began in 1806 by Valentin Günther and Anton Zimmenthausen. After a period of state ownership during the communist era, the company returned to private hands in 1998. Today, the brand is owned and operated by Romaqua Group, a major Romanian private company. The water is bottled on-site at the source in Borsec to maintain its natural purity and mineral balance, which includes beneficial levels of calcium, magnesium, and bicarbonates.
