Smint is a well-known brand of breath-freshening sugar-free mints, specifically recognised for its triangular shape and dental benefits through the use of xylitol. The brand was originally conceived in Spain in 1990 by the famous confectionery company Chupa Chups. Following several years of development, it was officially launched in the Spanish market in 1994 and introduced to the United Kingdom in 1995.
In 2006, the brand's ownership transitioned to the Italian-Dutch multinational Perfetti Van Melle after it acquired 100% of the Chupa Chups Group. Today, Smint remains a core part of the Perfetti Van Melle portfolio, which is one of the world's largest confectionery manufacturers. While the brand has its historical roots and established production facilities in Spain (specifically San Andrés de la Barca), modern distribution for the UK market—including the Smint 150 'Value Pack' bottles—is often manufactured in Turkey, reflecting the company's broad global supply chain.
