Ritter Sport is a globally recognized German chocolate brand, famous for its square-shaped bars and vibrant packaging. The brand was founded in 1912 by Alfred Ritter and his wife Clara in Stuttgart, Germany. The iconic square design was invented in 1932 to ensure the chocolate bar could fit into a sport jacket pocket without breaking, which eventually led to the name Ritter's Sport Chocolate.
Today, the brand remains a family-owned enterprise, managed by Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co. KG. The manufacturing is concentrated at their primary production site in Waldenbuch, Germany. The company is noted for its commitment to sustainability, claiming to source 100% certified sustainable cocoa. They operate their own cocoa plantation, El Cacao, in Nicaragua, making them one of the few chocolate manufacturers to control their supply chain from bean to bar. The product shown, 'Choco Cubes', is a popular gifting format featuring assorted individually wrapped chocolate pralines.
