YETI is a premium American outdoor brand founded in 2006 by brothers Roy and Ryan Seiders in Austin, Texas. Motivated by their personal frustrations with the poor durability of existing outdoor gear, the brothers set out to engineer high-performance equipment that could withstand the rigors of hunting, fishing, and adventuring. While the brand initially gained fame for its nearly indestructible coolers, it has since become a global leader in the vacuum-insulated drinkware market with its iconic Rambler series.

Although YETI emphasizes its Texas roots and many of its Tundra series coolers are manufactured in the United States (specifically in Minnesota and Wisconsin), its stainless-steel drinkware line is primarily produced overseas. Specifically, YETI Rambler tumblers and mugs are manufactured in China, particularly in the Zhejiang province, which is a global hub for vacuum flask production. The company maintains strict quality control measures to ensure these products meet its high standards for durability and thermal retention despite being outsourced.

Originally a private, family-owned business, YETI underwent a significant ownership shift in 2012 when the private equity firm Cortec Group acquired a majority stake. This partnership fueled rapid expansion into new product categories. In October 2018, YETI Holdings, Inc. became a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. Today, the brand is owned by YETI Holdings, Inc., which is headquartered in Austin and largely held by institutional investors such as Vanguard and BlackRock.
