Canderel Liquid Sweetener

Canderel is a major international brand of artificial sweeteners, best known for its aspartame and sucralose-based products. It was originally launched in France in 1979 by the pharmaceutical company G.D. Searle & Company. Over decades, the brand became a household name across Europe, South Africa, and Latin America as a low-calorie alternative to sugar.

While originally developed by G.D. Searle (which was later acquired by Monsanto), the Canderel brand underwent several ownership transitions. Today, the brand is owned by Merisant, a global leader in the sugar substitute market. Merisant operates manufacturing facilities worldwide, and production for this specific liquid version often takes place in various regions depending on the target market, including South Africa and parts of Europe, and is distributed locally through regional subsidiaries.
