Originally founded as Kenyon Produce (KP) in Rotherham, Yorkshire, the company initially focused on confectionery, jams, and pickles. It wasn't until the post-war era in the late 1940s that the company pivoted toward roasted nuts, launching its signature salted peanuts in 1953. This move revolutionized the British snack market, making KP the first brand to distribute salted peanuts nationwide.

Over the decades, the brand became a staple of British pubs and households. After being owned by United Biscuits for many years, the brand was acquired in 2012 by the Intersnack Group, a major European snack manufacturer. Despite its international ownership, the brand maintains a strong British identity and manufacturing presence. KP Nuts are primarily produced in the United Kingdom, specifically at a major modern production facility in Hellaby, near Rotherham, and another site in Teesside.
