The unique spelling of 'Porage' was a trademarked combination of 'Porridge' and 'Potage' (the French word for soup), helping the brand stand out in a competitive market for over a century.

While the brand remains deeply rooted in Scottish heritage, its ownership has shifted through several major corporate mergers. In the early 1980s, it became part of the Quaker Oats Company. Today, following the global acquisition of Quaker, the brand is owned by the American multinational PepsiCo. Despite this international ownership, the oats used in Scott's Porage are largely sourced and milled within the United Kingdom, specifically at the Cupar mill in Fife, Scotland, ensuring it maintains its local identity.
