This specific beer, the 'Münchner Hell' or Munich Helles, is a golden lager that remains one of the brewery's most popular offerings worldwide.

While Paulaner's primary brewing operations and historic roots are firmly planted in Munich, Germany, the brand's global reach involves various distribution and licensing agreements. Most of the premium Paulaner beer exported globally, including the Münchner Hell, is brewed in Germany according to strict Reinheitsgebot (German Purity Law) standards. However, some regional markets may involve localized production facilities to meet demand.

The brand is currently owned by the Paulaner Brauerei Gruppe GmbH & Co. KGaA. This entity is a joint venture between the Schörghuber Unternehmensgruppe (holding a 70% stake) and the Dutch brewing giant Heineken International (holding a 30% stake). Despite this corporate structure, Paulaner maintains its distinct identity as one of the six main breweries permitted to serve beer at Munich's world-famous Oktoberfest.
