Beauvais is one of Denmark's most iconic food brands, especially famous for its tomato ketchup which has been a staple in Danish households for decades. Founded in 1850 by Jean Desiré Beauvais, the brand originally focused on canned vegetables and preserves. The ketchup visible in the image is a modern variation with no added sugar, reflecting a health-conscious shift in the market while maintaining the historic branding.
While Beauvais is a quintessentially Danish brand by heritage, its production and ownership have shifted over the years. Following several acquisitions, the brand is currently owned by the Norwegian conglomerate Orkla ASA. Much of the production for the Danish market takes place at Orkla's specialized facilities in Sweden, such as the factory in Fågelmara, which is known for producing high volumes of ketchup for the Nordic region.
Today, Beauvais remains headquartered in Denmark as part of Orkla Foods Danmark, ensuring that the product development and brand management stay aligned with Danish taste preferences despite the international corporate ownership structure.
