SodaStream is a globally recognized brand that revolutionized home beverage consumption by allowing users to transform plain tap water into sparkling water at the touch of a button. The brand's origins date back to 1903 in the United Kingdom, where it was originally invented by Guy Hugh Gilbey of the gin distillers W & A Gilbey Ltd. as an 'apparatus for aerating liquids.' For decades, it remained a staple in British households before undergoing several ownership changes.

In 1998, the brand was acquired by its Israeli distributor, Soda-Club, which revitalized the product with a focus on environmental sustainability and health-conscious consumerism. This move shifted the company’s operational heart to Israel, where its primary manufacturing facilities are located today, specifically in the Idan HaNegev Industrial Park. Additional production for syrups and components occurs in various international sites including Ashkelon and formerly Australia.

In 2018, the global food and beverage giant PepsiCo acquired SodaStream for $3.2 billion. As of 2026, SodaStream continues to operate as an independent subsidiary of PepsiCo, maintaining its headquarters in Kfar Saba, Israel. The brand is a key pillar of PepsiCo's 'Beyond the Bottle' strategy, aiming to reduce plastic waste and provide healthier alternatives to traditional sugary sodas.
