Walkers Chocolates recyclable paper wrapper

Walkers Chocolates, a UK-based confectionery manufacturer, has transitioned from plastic wrappers to recyclable paper-based packaging. This shift is achieved through a collaboration with UPM Specialty Papers and EvoPak, utilizing UPM Solide Lucent 45 g/m² barrier base paper combined with EvoPak’s RCM coating. The new packaging offers essential protection against oxygen and grease, ensuring product quality while being recyclable in existing fibre recycling infrastructure. This initiative aligns with Walkers Chocolates' commitment to sustainability and reducing plastic usage across their operations. The recyclable paper packaging has been available since 2024 for major retailers and international clients, with several products stocked in UK retail chains and international markets.
