Jonsson and his father-in-law, Fritiof Svensson, the company initially produced aluminum household utensils. Recognizing the growing demand for camping equipment, Trangia shifted its focus to outdoor cooking solutions. In 1951, they introduced the first prototype of their iconic stove system, which has since become a staple in the outdoor community. The name 'Trangia' is derived from the village of Trångsviken, where the company is based, and 'ia' for 'in aluminium,' reflecting the material used in their products. Today, Trangia remains a family-owned business, with its fourth generation actively involved in operations, continuing to manufacture its products in Trångsviken, Sweden.
