Werther's Original Creamy Toffees

Werther's Original is a historic brand of caramel and butter confectionery that dates back to 1903. It was created by confectioner Gustav Nebel in the small German town of Werther, from which the brand takes its name. Originally marketed under the name Werthers Echte (Werther's Genuine), the brand was renamed for the international market in the 1990s and has since become one of the most recognized caramel brands globally.

The Creamy Toffees shown in the image are part of a product line that has expanded from the classic hard candies to include soft caramels, toffee popcorn, and sugar-free varieties. The product continues to be manufactured primarily in Germany, with major production facilities located in Halle (Westphalia), Ohrdruf, and Berlin.

Ownership of the brand remains transitionally within the founding family. It is owned and operated by August Storck KG, a privately held, family-managed German company headquartered in Berlin. Currently led by Axel Oberwelland, the fourth generation of the founding family, the company maintains its independence and operates through its own extensive international distribution network rather than through major global food conglomerates.
