Remia is a heritage Dutch brand that celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2025 (as indicated by the '100 Jaar' branding on the packaging). Originally founded in 1925 by Arie de Rooij in Amersfoort, it began as a garage-based mixing operation producing margarine and eventually expanded into a wide variety of sauces, dressings, and fats.

The product is manufactured in the Netherlands, primarily at their extensive production facility in Den Dolder. Remia remains an independent family-owned business, which is a significant distinction in a market often dominated by global conglomerates. It continues to be managed by the de Rooij family, maintaining its status as one of the most recognizable Dutch condiment brands available in supermarkets across Europe and beyond.
