Beauvais is one of Denmark's most iconic food brands, founded in 1850 by the French immigrant Jean Desiré Beauvais. Originally starting as a cannery in Copenhagen, it transitioned from luxury French-inspired goods to becoming a staple of the Danish pantry, particularly famous for its pickled cucumbers, red cabbage, and tomato ketchup.
Today, Beauvais is a major player in the Scandinavian food market. While the brand has deep Danish roots and still operates production facilities in Svinninge, Denmark, its ownership has evolved through corporate acquisitions. Since the late 1990s, the brand has been part of the Orkla Group, a leading Norwegian industrial conglomerate that specializes in consumer goods across the Nordics and beyond.
