Bugles are a horn-shaped corn snack introduced by General Mills in 1966. Developed by food engineer Verne E. Weiss, they were initially test-marketed in 1965 and launched nationally in 1966. The snack's unique shape and variety of flavors have contributed to its enduring popularity. Over the years, Bugles have been produced in various countries, including the United States, China, Saudi Arabia, and several others. In the U.S., they were originally manufactured at a plant in West Chicago, Illinois, until its closure in 2017. Production then shifted to Lancaster, Ohio, which is now a Ralston Foods Plant part of Con-Agra. Internationally, Bugles are produced under license by companies such as People's Coffee Manuf. Ltd in Cyprus, KITCO in Kuwait, and IFFCO UAE under their Tiffany subdivision in the United Arab Emirates. Despite these international manufacturing arrangements, the brand remains owned by General Mills, headquartered in the United States.
