Zapp's Potato Chips is a distinctive brand of kettle-cooked potato chips founded in 1985 by Ron Zappe in Gramercy, Louisiana. The brand is renowned for its bold flavors and unique cooking process, which involves frying chips in peanut oil to achieve a distinctive crunch and flavor. Zapp's offers a variety of flavors, including 'Spicy Cajun Crawtator,' 'Sour Cream and Creole Onion,' and 'Cajun Dill Gator-tators,' reflecting its strong Cajun heritage. In 1993, Zapp's expanded by acquiring the Dirty Chip Company in Memphis, Tennessee, and in 2006, it acquired the California Chip Company in Oxnard, California. In 2011, Zapp's was acquired by Utz Quality Foods, a leading American snack food company headquartered in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Despite the acquisition, Zapp's continues to operate as a subsidiary, maintaining its unique brand identity and product offerings.
