The brand was initially launched by the Belgian family-owned company Parein, aiming to introduce the American-style cracker to the European market. The name 'TUC' was inspired by the acronym 'Trade Union Corporation,' which appeared in a newspaper article read by Louis Parein during a business trip to the United States. In 1977, the company was acquired by the LU-Brun group. Over the years, TUC has expanded its product line to include various flavors such as cheese, cream & onion, and barbecue. In 2012, the brand became part of Mondelez International, a global leader in the snack industry. Mondelez International markets TUC crackers in mainland India, while Valeo Foods' Jacob Fruitfield Food Group produces TUC crackers for markets in Europe, Asia, North America, and North Africa. In Italy, TUC crackers are produced by Saiwa, a company owned by Mondelez International. The brand's diverse manufacturing locations ensure a consistent supply of TUC Original biscuits to consumers worldwide.
