Drobo 5N Network Attached Storage

Drobo is a brand of external storage devices, including Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions, designed to provide reliable and scalable data storage. The Drobo 5N is a NAS device that offers five drive bays, allowing users to install multiple hard drives for increased storage capacity. It features a Gigabit Ethernet port for network connectivity and supports 3.5" SATA hard drives, accommodating various capacities and configurations. The device utilizes Drobo's proprietary BeyondRAID technology, which simplifies data management by enabling users to add or replace drives without data loss and without the need for complex RAID configurations. Drobo was founded in 2005 as Data Robotics in San Jose, California, and later rebranded to Drobo in 2011. In August 2018, Drobo was acquired by StorCentric, a company specializing in data storage solutions. However, in June 2022, StorCentric filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and by April 2023, the company shifted to Chapter 7 bankruptcy, leading to the liquidation of Drobo. As of January 2026, Drobo products and support are no longer available.
