Findus Äkta Majonnäs is a classic Swedish mayonnaise that has been a staple in households since its introduction in 1947. Known for its rich texture and use of rapeseed oil and free-range eggs, it is often considered the 'original' Swedish mayonnaise.
The brand Findus originated in Sweden as 'Fruktindustrin' in Bjuv during the 1940s. While the brand remains a symbol of Swedish food heritage, it has undergone several ownership changes. Today, the Findus brand in the Nordic region is owned by Nomad Foods, a massive European frozen food company headquartered in the United Kingdom. Although the brand is Swedish in heart, production of this specific mayonnaise was moved from Bjuv, Sweden, to production facilities in Spain around 2017 following a major manufacturing restructuring by the parent company.
