Monster Energy was launched in 2002 by the Hansen Natural Company, a business with roots dating back to 1935 when Hubert Hansen began selling fresh juices in California. In 2012, the company officially rebranded as Monster Beverage Corporation to reflect the massive success of its flagship energy drink.

Today, the brand is a global powerhouse owned by the publicly traded Monster Beverage Corporation. A landmark strategic partnership in 2015 saw The Coca-Cola Company acquire a significant minority stake (approximately 19-20%) in the company, becoming its primary global distribution partner. While the brand is American by origin, its manufacturing is highly decentralized; Monster is produced in multiple countries across North America, Europe, and Asia to serve local markets efficiently. The company continues to expand its portfolio, having recently acquired brands like Bang Energy to solidify its position as the second-largest energy drink manufacturer in the world.
