Tilda is a prominent British brand that specialized in basmati rice, founded in London in 1970 by the Thakrar family. Initially serving the Asian community in the UK, it became the first brand to introduce Basmati rice to the wider British market. While the rice itself is sourced from traditional growing regions such as the Himalayan foothills of India and Pakistan, the processing, steaming, and packaging of these ready-to-heat pouches typically take place in the United Kingdom.

Ownership of the brand has transitioned from its founding family to major international conglomerates. In 2014, it was acquired by the American company Hain Celestial. Subsequently, in 2019, Tilda was sold to Ebro Foods, a leading Spanish food group specializing in rice and pasta. Today, Tilda remains a global leader in the premium rice category, maintaining its headquarters and primary manufacturing facilities in Rainham, Essex, under its Spanish parent company.
