Havana Club Especial is a premium golden rum produced in Cuba, known for its smooth and well-rounded taste profile. It combines the lightness of white rums with the fruity complexity typical of more aged rums. The rum is aged twice in specially selected white oak barrels, enhancing its flavors with soft notes of vanilla, cinnamon, tobacco, zesty orange, and dry oak. This double aging process results in a rich, golden rum that is ideal for mixing in cocktails like the Cuba Libre. The brand was originally founded in 1878 by José Arechabala S.A., a Cuban company. After the Cuban Revolution in 1959, the brand was nationalized. In 1993, Pernod Ricard, a French multinational company, acquired a majority stake in Havana Club, making it the ultimate owner of the brand. Pernod Ricard is headquartered in France and is the world's second-largest wine and spirits seller, with a diverse portfolio of brands across various categories. There is no known subsidiary information for the brand.
