Icopal Roofing Membranes

Icopal, founded in 1876 and headquartered in Herlev, Denmark, is a leading manufacturer of roofing and waterproofing products. The company operates 36 manufacturing facilities across Europe and North America, producing a range of products including modified bitumen membranes, single-ply membranes, and liquid roofing solutions. In January 2016, Icopal was acquired by GAF, North America's largest roofing manufacturer, for approximately €1 billion. This acquisition expanded GAF's presence in Europe and created one of the world's largest roofing and waterproofing companies. In April 2016, the acquisition was finalized, and GAF became the world's largest roofing manufacturer. In 2017, Standard Industries Inc., the parent company of GAF, acquired Braas Monier Building Group, a manufacturer of building materials for pitched roofs and roofing accessories in Europe, some Asian markets, and South Africa. This acquisition further expanded Standard Industries' global footprint in the roofing and waterproofing sector. As of 2026, Icopal continues to operate under the ownership of Standard Industries Inc., providing a comprehensive range of roofing and waterproofing solutions worldwide.
