The Anthora is a disposable coffee cup design that became iconic in New York City. Originally created in 1963 by Leslie Buck of the Sherri Cup Company, the design features a blue and white color scheme inspired by the Greek flag, with the words 'We Are Happy To Serve You' in angular script intended to evoke ancient Greek epigraphy. The design includes an image of an ancient Greek amphora and three steaming cups of coffee. The name 'Anthora' is derived from Buck's Eastern European-accented pronunciation of the word 'amphora'. The cup was initially produced by the Sherri Cup Company, which was later acquired by the Solo Cup Company. In 2012, Dart Container Corporation acquired Solo Cup Company, making Dart the current owner of the Anthora design. The Anthora cup has been widely recognized and associated with New York City's coffee culture.
