Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream is a globally recognized skincare staple with a long history rooted in Ireland. It was originally formulated in 1931 by Thomas Smith, a Dublin-based pharmacist, who initially called it 'Smith's Cream.' The name eventually evolved into 'Sudocrem' based on the local Dublin pronunciation of 'soothing cream.'

For nearly 90 years, the product was manufactured in the Dublin suburb of Baldoyle. However, in 2021, the parent company announced a significant shift in production. By 2023, manufacturing was relocated to Troyan, Bulgaria, to optimize the global supply chain and accommodate rising international demand. Today, while the brand maintains its historical identity as a quintessentially Irish product, its primary production now takes place at the Bulgarian facility.

Ownership of the brand has changed hands through several major pharmaceutical mergers. It was owned by Forest Laboratories, which was later acquired by Actavis, and subsequently by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. Currently, Sudocrem is part of the portfolio of Viatris Inc., a global healthcare corporation formed by the merger of Mylan and Pfizer's Upjohn division.
