Vimeo is a video hosting and sharing platform founded in 2004 by Jake Lodwick and Zach Klein in New York City. Initially developed as a side project of CollegeHumor, it has evolved into a leading service for high-definition video delivery and a suite of tools for video creation, editing, and broadcasting. In September 2025, Vimeo agreed to be acquired by Bending Spoons, an Italian mobile app developer, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $1.38 billion. The deal closed in November 2025, and Vimeo continues to operate under its existing brand following the acquisition. Prior to this, Vimeo was a subsidiary of IAC, a New York-based media and internet conglomerate, from 2006 to 2021. The company has expanded its offerings over the years, including the acquisition of VHX in 2016, a digital distribution platform for independent filmmakers, and Vimeo Livestream in 2017, a live streaming platform. As of 2023, Vimeo serves over 300 million users worldwide, providing a range of services from video hosting to enterprise solutions.
