Prince is a Danish brand of cigarettes introduced in 1957 by Chr. Augustinus' Fabrikker as a 'counterpart' to the first filter cigarette in Denmark, 'All-Over'. Over the decades, Prince has maintained a significant presence in the Danish market, becoming a market leader for many years. In 2002, Prince held 48.1% of the Danish cigarette market, though this share declined to 26.7% by 2007. The brand is known for its slogan 'Jeg er også gået over til Prince' ('I have also gone over to Prince'), which has been a staple in Danish advertising since its inception. In 2008, House of Prince A/S, the company responsible for producing Prince cigarettes, was acquired by British American Tobacco, a multinational tobacco company headquartered in London, UK. This acquisition expanded British American Tobacco's presence in the Danish market and integrated Prince into its portfolio of brands. Today, Prince cigarettes are produced primarily in Denmark, with additional production facilities in Poland, reflecting the brand's international reach and the consolidation of tobacco manufacturing within the industry.
