Sumol is an iconic Portuguese carbonated soft drink brand that was originally created in 1954. It was the first fruit juice pasteurized in a bottle in Portugal, launching with its signature orange flavor. The brand's origin is tied to the town of Almeirim, where it was developed by António João Eusébio.
Today, Sumol is produced primarily in Portugal by Sumol+Compal, a major beverage company formed by the merger of Sumol and Compal in 2009. The brand maintains a strong heritage in Portugal while exporting to over 60 countries. Ownership remains rooted in Portugal through the holding company Sumol+Compal S.A., which manages the entirety of the brand's production, marketing, and distribution.
