Kellogg's began in the United States when W.K. Kellogg founded the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company (later Kellogg Company) in the early 20th century; the brand is historically American in origin. (britannica.com)

In 2023 the historic Kellogg Company was split into two publicly traded businesses: Kellanova (global snacking, international cereals, noodles and related businesses) and WK Kellogg Co (the North American cereal business). The Kellogg's brand continued to appear on products across both organizations but stewardship and corporate ownership became regionally partitioned as part of the separation. (newsroom.kellanova.com)

Following the separation, major M&A activity changed ultimate ownership by market: Ferrero announced and completed the acquisition of WK Kellogg Co (the North American cereal business that owns many Kellogg's cereal SKUs in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean) in 2025, making those North American Kellogg's cereal brands part of Ferrero’s corporate family. Separately, Kellanova (the global snacking and international cereal business that retained stewardship of many Kellogg's international brands) was acquired by Mars, Inc. in late 2025. As a result, stewardship of the Kellogg's brand is effectively split: Ferrero controls WK Kellogg’s North American cereal portfolio, while Mars (via its acquisition of Kellanova) controls the international snacking and cereal portfolio that used the Kellogg's brand outside North America. Kellogg's products are manufactured in multiple countries through a global manufacturing footprint and regional plants/distribution networks; production locations vary by brand, SKU and market.
