The TABASCO® brand was created by Edmund McIlhenny in 1868 on Avery Island, Louisiana. McIlhenny Company — the original company behind TABASCO® — continues to own and operate the brand. TABASCO® family products, including the Sriracha sauce, are produced from the company’s home on Avery Island; therefore production is primarily in the United States (Avery Island, Louisiana).
TABASCO® remains owned by the McIlhenny family through the privately held McIlhenny Company. The company is the original and continuing ultimate owner of the TABASCO® brand and its product portfolio, managing manufacturing, global distribution, and branding from its Avery Island headquarters.
TABASCO® Sriracha Sauce is marketed as the brand’s premium Sriracha interpretation (sweet & spicy, thicker consistency) and sits alongside other thicker‑style TABASCO® offerings such as Sweet & Spicy and Buffalo Style in the company’s Family of Flavors.
